Hi,
I believe you will have to punch holes in the seal to allow for the clips. We do not manufacture this particular seal in house so I called the manufacturer and they tell me the holes need to be punched out. Unfortunate to have to take this extra step on such an expensive seal - I am sorry for the trouble. I do recommend using a leather punch for the holes - we use them here at our shop all the time and they work really well for making fastener holes in rubber. I hope this helps! If you have additional questions or need clarifications you can also call us 866-789-7879 M-F 8-4 PST.
