Hi,
We are not certain which thickness is required for the glass setting tape on your 72 LTD. For both Ford & GM there does not seem to be any sort of pattern or consistency as to which thickness was used...we have even seen different sizes on the same car. I can tell you the most common sizes are 1/16" thick and 1/32" thick. You can try to measure the original to determine or you can measure the channel, measure the glass, subtract these values and divide by 2 - you should come up with a number close to either 1/16" or 1/32". We do have other sizes but again these are the most common. You can view all sizes using the link below and we do have samples available. Also, you are correct, as long as you have the correct size this should be a friction fit, no adhesive required.
